Intro to Jazz Singing

Wondering what is so great about jazz? Come join this exciting introduction to jazz singing class for ages 13 - 18. Designed to increase confidence and encourage personal expression, this group class teaches students of all ability levels proper vocal technique, jazz repertoire and performance skills. Singers will learn about great masters of jazz, like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, how to interpret the rich American songbook and jazz standards. A final class performance will feature the singers’ work.

The class will be taught by jazz singer and songwriter, Ashley Daneman. Ms. Daneman has a Master of Music degree in vocal jazz performance from Manhattan School of Music and has been teaching privately for over 10 years. She is also a professional singer and performing artist.

Session II: Monday, July 30 - Friday, August 3; 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Ages: 13 - 18* (enrollment limited to 8 students)

Tuition:  $100**

Location:  Kalamazoo Piano Company, 310 N. Rose Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49008


*Other ages may be considered based on ability.

**Partial need-based scholarship may be offered to those who arrange an audition for consideration.
